Change of Location

The Cavaliers will take on Iowa Lakes at the Viterbo Baseball Complex on April 1. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM. The game was moved from Copeland Park because of delays while putting in the new lights.

Cavs return to Wisconsin 3-2

The Western Cavaliers return from Harrison, AR with a 3-2 record after dropping their final game 12-4 versus the host school Northern Arkansas. Silas Ebbert and Adam Bozinski each threw 3 innings apiece, but neither could hold down the hot hitting North Ark squad. The game was tied at 3 going into the 4th inning before the North Ark team started to pull away. Offensively the Cavs were lead by Kyle Sime, Corey Jessesky and Shane Peterson who all had two hits apiece.

Overall the coaching staff was very pleased with the effort of the team. Each game we improved defensively and competed to the final outs. The Cavaliers return to action at Copeland Park, April 1 versus NJCAA DII Iowa Lakes Community College.

NOTES: When the Iowa Lakes Team comes to town, Coach Levendoski will be coaching against his former colleague Jason Nell. Coach Levendoski served as hitting coach under Coach Nell last summer for the Mankato Moondogs of the Northwoods League. The Moondogs won the First Half Championship and made the playoffs for the first time in franchise history setting numerous offensive records. This summer Coach Levendoski will be the Field Manager of the Brainerd Lake Area Lunkers.

Cavs split on Day Two.

The Western Cavaliers split today in Harrison, AR beating NJCAA DII Highland Community College 6-1 and losing to the #13 ranked North Arkansas 8-1.

The first game featured the great pitching efforts of Nick Schultz. Nick went the distance giving up one run on five hits while stiking out 3 and walking none. The Cavs were led offensively by James Corwith who went 2-3 with two doubles while driving in a pair of runs, Kyle Sime was 2-3 with two RBIs, Corey Jessesky was 2-3 with a double and Nick Schultz helped himself going 2-3 with a homerun.

In the second game the Cavs struggled against the highly ranked North Ark squad only getting one run on one hit to lose 8-1. Kyle Sime provided the lone run by hitting a solo homerun in the seventh inning to break up the no-hitter. Corey Jessesky pitched all 6 innings for the Cavs giving up 8 runs on 10 hits. North Ark and Western will play again tomorrow.

Stat of the Day: Western improves to 3-1 on the season. The 3 wins are half the win total of the 2008 season.

Cavs take Two!

The Cavaliers came off the bus ready to play defeating the NJCAA DII Spoon River Community College twice today in Harrison, AR. They "Stole" first game the Western Cavaliers won in a slugfest 14-13. Brad Gilberts went 3 innings giving up 7 runs (3 earned). He was relieved by Ryan Seidel. Seidel went 4 innings for the win. giving up 7 runs (5 earned), while striking out 4. The offense attack for the Cavaliers was led by shortstop Ben Levendoski, who went 3-4 with 3 stolen bases and 3 runs scored. James Corwith was 2-2 with a double, 2 stolen bases, 2 runs scored an RBI. Corey Jessesky also chipped in going 3-5 with 2 stolen bases, 3 runs scored and an RBI. Brad Gilbert also had 2 RBIs. Overall, in game one the Cavaliers scored 15 runs on 9 hits while stealing 9 bases and drawing 11 walks.



Game Two featured strong pitching from left-hander Shane Peterson. Peterson went all 7 innings only allowing 1 run (0 earned) while striking out 2 and walking 7. Peterson was able to pitch himself out of trouble all day. The Cavaliers were led offensively by Ben Levendoski who went 1-3 with a RBI and 1 stolen base, James Corwith 2-4 with a stolen base and runs scored, Nick Scultz 1-3 with an RBI and 3 stolen bases. Overall, in game two the Cavaliers scored 4 runs on 6 hits while stealing 5 bases and drawing 5 walks.

Stat of the Day: In two games the Cavaliers have stolen more bases than all of last season (11) versus 14 this season!

The Season Begins

The Western Cavalier Baseball Team will travel to Harrison, AR to kick off the 2009 Season. The "Cavs" will play 6 games on there southern trip. Check back for updates on the trip.
