Tryouts for 2009-10 Season

Cav's season ends at Regionals

The Western Baseball Team ended the 2009 season at the Region XIII Tournament in Willmar, MN. The Cavs dropped the first game of the tournament to Minnesota Tech-Fergus Falls 8-7. The Cavs had a 7-2 lead going into the 8th, but they could not hold on for the win. In the second game, the Cavs lost to Northland Community and Technical College 7-2. With the two loses the Cavs fell to 13-16 on the season. Of the 13 players on the Region XIII qualifying Western Team, 10 are eligible to return for next season. With another strong recruiting class and increased numbers, the Cavs will be a Region XIII qualifier for years to come.

2 Cavs Earn All WTCC-Conference Honors and All-Region Honors

Two Cavaliers earned their place on WTCC All Conference Team. Ricky Bates earned All-Conference Honors as a pitcher. Bates went 2-0 in conference play and also recorded 1 save. He pitched in 24 innings allowing only 11 earned runs on 14 hits. He struckout 33 while walking 28.
Ben earned All-Conference Honors as an infielder. He batted .324 in conference play. He currently leads the team in hits (26), runs (23), HBP (9), and BB (15). Both players are now eligible to recieve All-American Honors.

Western heading to Region XIII Playoffs

The Western Baseball team beat MATC-Milwaukee in the Conference Tournament to qualifiy for the Region XIII Playoffs. The Cavs now carry a 13-14 record and finished with a 4-6 record in conference.

REGION XIII INFO:

The four teams making the regional tournament are: #1 Riverland Community College, #2 Fergus Falls, # Northland Tech, and #4 Western Tech.

Western will play Fergus Falls on Friday May 8th at 11:00 AM at Swanson Field.
