Cavs split with Stormers
The Western Cavaliers final played their games versus MATC-Milwaukee gaining a split with the Stormers. The Cavs won the first game 5-3 and dropped the second game in extra innings 8-9. With the split the Cavs move one step closer to earning a trip to the Region XIII Playoffs. The Cavs will need to win one game at the Conference Tounrnament to secure a playoff berth. The Cavs record now sits at 12-13.

Game Postponed
Western's game vs. MATC-Miwaukee has been postponed until Wednesday April 29th. With the postponmnet, the game vs. Dakota County Technical College has been cancelled.

Rain and Snow
In a week where the Western Baseball Team was supposed to play 8 games, the weather limited them to only 2. Yesterday's games versus UW-Fond du Lac were rained out. The Cavs return to action (weather permitting) against MATC-Milwaukee in Oak Creek, WI on Saturday. If the Cavs can sweep the Stormers, they will lock up a Region XIII playoff bid.

Western swept by MATC-Madison
The Western Baseball Team was swept by the MATC-Madison Wolfpack on Wedneday April 22nd 12-0 and 11-0. With the two loses the Cavs drop to 11-12 on the season. The Cavs will travel to Fond du Lac to take on UW-Fond du Lac on Thursday.

The Cavs were supposed to play Riverland Community College on Wednesday, but that game has been cancellend in order to play the conference game against MATC-Madison. Cavs split with MATC-Milwaukee
The Western Baseball team split a doubleheader with conference rival MATC-Milwaukee today, winning the first game 8-7 and dropping the second game 9-0. In the first game, Western needed extra innings to beat the Stormers. The Stormers came back to score two runs in the 7th innings to tie the game at 7. Western would score one run in the bottom of the 8th on a RBI single by Nick Scultz. Ryan Seidel earned the victory in relief, pitching 1 innings of scoreless baseball. Ricky Bates started the game going 7 innings giving up 7 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits while striking out 6 and walking 8. Offensively the Cavs were led by James Corwith who was 3-5 with a homerun and 3 RBIS, Nick Schultz, who was 3-5, and Ben Levendoski 2-4 with 2 runs scored
In the second game the Cavs sent mutiple pitchers to the mound. Having played 6 games in 3 days the Cavs pitching staff was pretty depleted. Ryan Seidel started the game going 2 innings giving up 2 runs on 2 hits while striking out 2 and walking 2. He was relieved by Nick Schultz, who pitched 1 inning giving up 4 runs on 5 hits. Brad Gilberts pitched 2 innings giving up 1 run. He was relieved by Adam Bozinski pitched 1 innings giving up 2 runs. Franklin Willis finished the game pitching the last inning. Cavs take two at Copeland
The Western Baseball team finally got to play at Copeland Park and beat Rochester Community and Technical College 4-1 and 12-8 to earn the sweep. In the first game the Cavs used a great pitching performance from Brad Gilberts. Gilbert pitched all 7 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 2 and walking 1. Offensively the Cavs pushed 4 runs across in the 6th to get the win. Offensively the Cavs were led by Ben Levendoski, who was 1-3 with a RBI and run scored, and Ricky Bates, who was 1-2 with a 3 run homerun.

Cavs sweeped by Riverland Community College
The Western Cavaliers traveled to Austin, MN to play the Riverland Community College Devils. The Cavs did not do so well losing two games in lop-sided fashion, 17-0 and 10-o. With the two loses the Cavs fell to 8-7 on the season.

Cavs stun MATC-Madison
The Western Cavaliers stunned the MATC-Madison Wolfpack Saturday afternoon at the Viterbo Baseball Complex beating them 5-2. MATC would comeback to earn a split winning the second game 17-0.
In the first game the Cavs got another strong pitching performance from Ricky Bates. Bates pitched all 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 2 hits while striking out 8 and walking 8. Offensively the Cavs came out swinging and took control of the game in the first inning on a solo homerun by Corey Jessesky. The Cavs would take advantage of a couple walks and an error to score 2 more runs in the 2nd inning. The Cavs tacked on 2 more runs in the 5th to extend the lead. Offensively the Cavs were led by Corey Jessesky, who had a homerun, and Nick Schultz, who was 2-2 with 2 RBI.

Cavs Sweep UW-Fond du Lac
The Western Cavaliers swept the UW-Fond du Lac Baseball team 12-9 and 13-6 to improve to 7-4 on the season. In the first game the Cavs scored in spurts putting up a 5 spot in the 1st, a 4 spot in the 5th, and a 3 spot in the 7th to get the win. Shane Peterson pitched 6 innings allowing 7 runs (5 earned) while striking out 4 and walking 1. Ricky Bates earned the win pitching the 7th. James Corwith hit a walk-off 3-run homerun to win the game. The Cavs were led offensively by Ben Levendoski, who was 2-4 with 2 runs scored, Corey Jessesky, who was 3-5 with 3 run scored, Jame Corwith who was 2-5 with a homerun and 4 RBI, and Ricky Bates, who was 1-3 with a homerun and 3 RBI.

The Western Cavaliers split today with the Rochester Community and Technical College Yellowjacktets. The Cavs took the first game 4-3 and lost the second game 13-1.

Doubleheader Postponed

Cavs Split with Lakers
The Western Cavaliers split a doubleheader Wednesday against NJCAA DII Iowa Lakes. In the first game the Cavs battled back in the bottom of the sixth scoring 3 runs to take a 4 to 3 lead and pitcher Ricky Bates finished off the Lakers to get the win. Bates pitched all 7 innings giving up 3 runs on 9 hits. He struck out 7 while only walking one. The Cavs were led offensively by Ben Levendoski, who was 2-3 with an RBI, Ricky Bates 2-4, and James Corwith who also drove in a run.
