The Western Cavaliers swept the UW-Fond du Lac Baseball team 12-9 and 13-6 to improve to 7-4 on the season. In the first game the Cavs scored in spurts putting up a 5 spot in the 1st, a 4 spot in the 5th, and a 3 spot in the 7th to get the win. Shane Peterson pitched 6 innings allowing 7 runs (5 earned) while striking out 4 and walking 1. Ricky Bates earned the win pitching the 7th. James Corwith hit a walk-off 3-run homerun to win the game. The Cavs were led offensively by Ben Levendoski, who was 2-4 with 2 runs scored, Corey Jessesky, who was 3-5 with 3 run scored, Jame Corwith who was 2-5 with a homerun and 4 RBI, and Ricky Bates, who was 1-3 with a homerun and 3 RBI.
In the second game UW-FDL took an early 3 run lead on two first inning errors by the Cavs. The Cavs battled back with 6 runs in the 2nd. All 6 runs came with 2 outs. The Cavs went on to score 4 runs in the 3rd and scored 3 more in the 5th to beat to the UW-FDL 13-6. Brad Gilbert picked up the win going 5 innings giving up 5 runs (3 earned) while striking out 1 and walking 1. Ryan Seidel pitched that final two innings of scoreless ball. Offensively the Cavs were led by Ben Levendoski, who was 2-4 with 2 runs scored, Nick Schultz, who was 2-3 with 2 runs scored and Brandon Arenz, who was 2-2 with 3 runs scored.
NOTES: With the two wins the Cavs surpassed their win total from a year ago (6). Western will take on the MATC-Madison Saturday April 11th at the Viterbo Baseball Complex at 12:00 PM.
