Cavs split with Yellowjackets

The Western Cavaliers split today with the Rochester Community and Technical College Yellowjacktets. The Cavs took the first game 4-3 and lost the second game 13-1.

In game 1 the Cavs used a another strong outing from Ricky Bates to get the win. Bates went 7 innings give up 3 runs (2 earned) and stuckout 9 with only 2 walks. Offensively the Cavs were led by James Corwith and Ricky Bates, both went 2-4 with homeruns and 2 RBIs.

In game 2 the Cavs got out to a early 1 run lead in the first, but the Yellowjacket can back to sting the Cavs. The Yellowjackets took advantage of 6 walks and 3 errors to beat the Cavs 13-1. Nick Schultz started for Western going 3 innings before being relieved by Ryan Seidel. With the lose the Cavs fall to 5-4 on the season.

FIELD CHANGES: The Cavs will take on UW-Fond du Lac at the Viterbo Baseball Complex on Wednesday and will play MATC at the Viterbo Baseball Complex on Saturday. Copeland Park will hopefully be ready for play early next week.
