The Western Cavaliers split a doubleheader Wednesday against NJCAA DII Iowa Lakes. In the first game the Cavs battled back in the bottom of the sixth scoring 3 runs to take a 4 to 3 lead and pitcher Ricky Bates finished off the Lakers to get the win. Bates pitched all 7 innings giving up 3 runs on 9 hits. He struck out 7 while only walking one. The Cavs were led offensively by Ben Levendoski, who was 2-3 with an RBI, Ricky Bates 2-4, and James Corwith who also drove in a run.
In the second game the Lakers came out swinging scoring 2 runs in each of the first 3 innings. Brad Gilberts started the game, but did not get the defensive he needed. Of the 6 runs that Gilberts surrendered, only 2 were earn. Shane Peterson pitched the next 3 innings giving up 2 runs. Adam Bozinski pitched 1 inning and did not allow a run. The Cavs lost Game 2, 8-1. Offensively the Cavs had opportunities to score runs but they did not get the timely hits when runners were on. The Cavs were led offensively by Adam Bozinski, who was 3-4 with 2 doubles, James Corwith, who was 2-3, and Silas Ebbert, who was 3-4. The Cavs are now 4-3 on the season.
NOTES: The Cavs will take on UW-Barron County on Sunday April 5th at 1:00 PM.

That would have been sweet IIIFFFF I would have been 3-4 with 2 doubles. It sounds good, but I was only 2-3 with 1 double haha
